Lawrence “Wade” McLeod, 68, husband of Mary “Libby” Watkins McLeod, died Saturday, March 20, 2021, at McLeod Regional Medical Center.
Born November 13, 1952, in Manning, he was a son of the late Simeon O’Donnell McLeod and the late Laura Janette Griffin McLeod. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lodge #54 AFM in Manning for over 45 years, the South Carolina Municipal Association, and Paxville Baptist Churchwhere he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and Trustee. He served in many capacities for the town of Paxville including Post Master and Mayor. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.He loved his Lord, his family, his church and his community and he will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife of Paxville; three children, Laurence Andrew McLeod of Paxville, Susan O’Donnell McLeod Nesbitt (Christopher) of Sumter and Joseph Hampton McLeod (Alicia) of Paxville; ten grandchildren, McKinzie, Hailey, Mason, Jordan, Andi,Elizabeth, CJ, Hampton, Tyler Wade and Alayna; a brother, Simeon O’Donnell “Don” McLeod, Jr. of Paxville; a sister, Lois Brown (Donnie) of Summerton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at the Paxville Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Johnson and the Rev. Bennie Barwick officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be past and present Deacons of Paxville Baptist Church and members of St. Peter’s Lodge #54 AFM.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 1254 McLeod Road, Paxville.
