Henry Baker Herlong

Henry Baker “Butch” Herlong, Sr., 80, died Monday, July 13, 2020, at his home.

Born January 10, 1940, in Sumter, he was a son of the late John Nathaniel Herlong, Sr. and the late Mary Emma Baker Herlong Dickson. He attended Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church and Summerton Presbyterian Church. He was a HAM Radio Operator. He was a volunteer firefighter and retired from Federal Mogul with 36 years of service. He was a very devoted family man and loved his community of Summerton.

He is survived by three children, Henry Baker Herlong, Jr. and Pamela Gaile H. Timmons, both of Summerton, and John Todd Herlong of Manning; two stepdaughters, Debbie Pearson of Lexington and Cindy Falls (Robert) of Manning; six grandchildren, Travis Herlong, Todd Herlong, Jr. (Caitlin), Josh Timmons, Brandon Herlong, Lacy Timmons and Christian Herlong Murphy (Jeffrey); six great grandchildren; a brother, John Nathaniel Herlong (Lynn) of Manning; a sister, Betty Baker Broadway Warren (Townsend) of McClellanville; a special friend, Betty McCall of Paxville; and several nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2020, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home.

Visitation was held from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at Stephens Funeral Home.
