On Saturday, Apr. 1, the big gospel tent goes up again. This is the second year that Follow Me Crusade has been host to the Clarendon County Tent Crusade. Follow Me Crusade is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to change lives through a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Last year's event came together after "God laid it on the hearts of our Committee to organize the crusades in Clarendon and Sumter counties, and it fell into place that Dalton DuBose shared about forty acres that would hold the tent and the people," stated Mitchell Gough.
In the twelve nights of the Crusade last year, around 20,000 people attended. This year the tent is larger, allowing up to another 1,000 people to attend under the big gospel tent.
Three hundred volunteers are needed to erect this year's tent Saturday. Gough said, "Many came out last year and some just brought their chairs to watch the tent go up." The work will begin at 9 a.m. and the volunteers and committee will work to raise the tent. Lunch will be provided on site. The location to meet in Summerton is at exit 108 on I-95, beside Loves Travel Center.
Volunteers are also needed the nights of the Crusade. Those nights are Apr. 10 through Apr. 14 and Apr. 17 through Apr. 21.
The volunteers will hand out water, help with putting out chairs, coordinate parking, and other miscellaneous jobs. The gospel tent will have pine shavings on the floor and approximately 4,000 chairs, however the public can also bring their own if they want to. The Crusade will have renowned gospel music each night it's open.
Gough stated, "Last year we put the big gospel tent up in Summerton and thousands of people attended over the course of three weeks. 350 lives were changed by either receiving Christ or re-dedication. We had great southern gospel music nightly with powerful preaching by CT Townsend. We expect God to do it again this year."
Volunteers are still needed for Saturday, Apr. 1. If you are able to help, please reach out to Mitchell Gough at 843-774-1095 Followmecrusade.org
