Review: This is the third installment of the Creed films, which is a continuation of the Rocky franchise and in this movie, Adonis is all on his own. The movie starts off with a flashback of Adonis as a child and Damian, who is secretly picking him up from his house to go to an underground boxing club. When they get to the club Damian is well known and is allowed to bring in a young Adonis as he gets prepared to fight a capable opponent. Damian easily beats the guy and we see him and Adonis celebrate and stop at a local store to get some food.

Adonis walks to the store and he sees a man walking past and immediately recognizes him, and asks, “Hey Leon, you remember me?” He then starts to punch the guy and knocks him out. The movie then flashes to modern day and we see Adonis in the ring fighting his last match before he retires and he is not doing well, or so we think. Adonis is really playing possum with the fighter and when the next round starts he beats him pretty easily and retires as the unified undisputed champion. The movie then shows Adonis at his gym where he is training the current champion and has now stepped into the role of promoter . As he is taking a business call and steps outside we are then introduced to Damian who has just gotten out of prison.

We see Adonis and Damian hang out and catch up on old times, but you can tell Damian has something sinister in mind. He seems very jealous and feels like he deserves a chance at regaining what he lost while in prison for 18 years. Adonis tries to help him and at first it doesn’t seem he will be able to, but the fight that was originally going down between Adonis’s protege and Drago was canceled due to someone attacking and injuring Drago. Adonis lets Damian get the spot and the rest of it you will have to go see for yourself.

This movie was shot well, the pacing was on point. There wasn’t a time I felt it was dragging or too long, there was however a part during the final fight that I didn’t care for. The effects that the director chose to use just wasn’t to my liking, but other than that this movie was great. If you are a boxing, Michal B Jordan, or Rocky fan, then this is a movie I definitely think you will enjoy.

Ranking: I give this movie a 9.5 out of a 10.
