Eckerd Connects offering job assistance

Posted

On May 19th, Eckerd Connects is providing Summer Jobs and Training Opportunities. This event is taking place at K and H Resource Center from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. There will be many opportunities to get information on future career opportunities such as Veterinary Tech Assistant, Healthcare work, Welding, Manufacturing, and Employment Assistance. Food and drinks will be provided.

Eckerd Connects is a workplace development program that provides career pathways and support to adults, dislocated workers, and youth ages 16 and older. It has a range of career services to fit the needs of each individual person. Pam Hall has worked for the Clarendon County Eckerd Connects workplace office for two years. Hall is also the career coach for Clarendon County and Lee County. Pam is located at the Fe Dubose Career Center and also works Wednesdays at the resource center in Summerton, SC from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Young adults have to be out of school and college to qualify for this program. With this program, they provide everything necessary for your career path at no price.

“Our objective and goal are not to introduce you to a job, instead introduce you to a career,” said Hall. “We take you from that education work experience to full-time employment.” Pam goes to high schools and recruits students while helping them prepare for their future careers. The first thing people have to take is the career assessment and a work readiness training class, where young adults/adults will learn interview skills, budgeting, workplace safety and dressing for success. All of those steps are provided free while getting paid.
