Catherine Marian Huggins Fleming, 84, wife of Robert Ben “Bob” Fleming, Sr., died Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at Prisma Health Tuomey.

Born September 3, 1935, in Hemingway, she was a daughter of the late Charles Dewey Huggins, Sr. and the late Rena Melvina Cox Huggins. Catherine graduated from Winthrop College and earned her master’s degree from the University of South Carolina. She was a retired school teacher with 33 years of service having taught at Manning Christian Academy and Clarendon County Public Schools. She was a member of the Virginia Pride Garden Club and Manning First Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Bobby Fleming (Kim) of Manning, Todd Fleming (Penny) of Sumter and Jim Fleming (Paula) of Manning; a brother, Harry Huggins (Pat) of Hemingway; seven grandchildren, Ben Fleming, Trey Fleming, Mitch Fleming, Adam Fleming (Camilla), William Fleming, Leigh Fleming Joyner (Cameron) and Catherine Ann Fleming; and a great granddaughter, Cordelia Fleming.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, CD Huggins, Francis Huggins Ridgill, Jimmy Huggins, Tom Huggins and Dick Huggins.

A private funeral service will be held at Manning First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Phillip Reynolds officiating. Private burial will follow at Wilson Community Cemetery at Union United Methodist Church.

Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

The service will be livestreamed at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2020, on Manning First Baptist Church Facebook page.
