A man who led deputies on a high speed chase after he reportedly broke into a Ram Bay Road business Sunday night is actively being pursued. Clarendon County Sheriff's Office Maj. Kipp Coker said deputies responded to an alarm about 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Suri Industries, 2678 Ram Bay Road, and a suspect fled the scene in a car registered to a Sumter address. According to dispatch reports, the man hit speeds in excess of 100 mph on Interstate 95 from Ram Bay to Alcolu, where he ditched his car. "He ran into the woods," Coker said, and was chased but not captured. Items from Suri Industries including a flat screen TV were recovered from his vehicle, Coker said. The suspect is described as a black male who was wearing a gray hoodie. The owner told dispatch he had a camera at Suri Industries and could see the man entering the second floor. Further reports indicated the interstate chase was brief and the suspect was driving recklessly, and ditched his car near the woods on Alcolu Street. If anyone has any information, they are urged to contact the Clarendon County Sheriff's Office at (803) 435-4414.
