20th Annual Turbeville Christmas Parade Gives Back

Posted

The 20thAnnual Turbeville Christmas Parade will roll down Main Street Turbeville this Saturday, December 14th, at 4 pm. Dubbed the “Joy of Giving Christmas Parade”, it also serves as a charitable event and a way for parade participants and spectators to give back to their community. All entry fees are donated to the Walker Gamble Feeding Families Food Drive, a program that strives to provide meals to local families during the holidays and beyond. Parade spectators also get into the spirit of the parade by donating canned goods and submitting monetary donations during the actual parade.

“I think that it is a time for fellowship and fun for all the citizens in the town and surrounding areas,” said Turbeville Mayor-Elect Kathryn Turbeville. “We may be small but we always get this done.”

This year, the parade committee has added a new addition to the entry awards. The 1stAnnual “Best Dressed Jeep” contest is looking for the most festive Jeep in the parade. Other awards offered are “The Elf Award” for the best-decorated golf cart. “The Most Spirited” and “The Prettiest” entries will also be recognized. And they wouldn’t forget the horses - equestrian entries are also awarded for the “Most Festive” and “Prettiest” participants.

The Walker Gamble Children’s Chorus, The Dancing Machine Dancing Academy, Santa, and The Grinch will be on hand after the parade at The Town Square for the Official Town of Turbeville Tree Lighting Ceremony.
