Clarendon Hall delays Tuesday games

Clarendon Hall basketball games scheduled for Tuesday have been moved to Feb. 6. Senior night has also been moved to that day. Athletic Director Ritchie Way said the games will begin 4 p.m. at home Feb. 6.

County Offices Close

Clarendon County offices will close at 1 p.m. Tuesday due to inclement weather. A decision about Wednesday will be made later.

Clarendon 2 announces early dismissals for Tuesday

Clarendon School District 2 will have the following early dismissal times on Tuesday due impending inclement weather. MECC, MPS – 11:10 a.m. MES – 11:20 a.m. MJHS – 11:35 a.m. MHS – 11:50 a.m. Determinations will be made regarding school openings or closings for Wednesday on Tuesday, depending on weather conditions.

DAR Manning Chapter to meet Monday

The Elizabeth Peyre Richardson Manning chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet 3 p.m. Monday in the Heritage Hall of Manning First Baptist Church. Antique dolls will be the featured topic.

LMA Varsity teams lose to Northwoods Academy

The Laurence Manning Academy Varsity teams unfortunately came away with losses on Saturday against Northwoods Academy. The girls’ team couldn’t keep up with Northwoods player Amber Campell, who scored 40 points to bring the game to 89-33. Hayley Hatfield scored nine points for the Lady Swampcats, while Courtney Beatson scored eight. The varsity boys kept their game closer, 70-67, with Shakei Green and Mark Pipkin each scoring 14 points.

  JAN. 22   Both the girls’ and boys’ teams were victorious against Robert E. Lee Academy at home, with the girls winning 24-8. Oliver Coker scored nine points for the Swampcats, and Liz Hussey scored five points. The boys were dominant, winning 60-24. Grayson Gamble was the high-scorer for the Swampcats, with 12 points. Dalton Page scored nine points.

Sheriff’s Office holds charity golf tourney

The Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office’s first Charity Golf Tournament was held Jan. 16 at the Players Course Wyboo Golf Club in Manning. Proceeds benefited the completion of a Ronald McDonald House in Columbia and the American Lung Association.
