Manning, SC – Joyce Fulmore Hodge, 54, wife of Antelnello “Pete” Hodge, died Sunday, June 23, 2019 at McLeod Health Clarendon, Manning, SC. She was born December 2, 1954 in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of the late Curtis Ray Fleming and Emma Lee Muckle Fulmore.

The family is receiving friends at the residence, 1792 Kingstree Hwy., Manning, SC.

Driggers named All State Softball player

SC High School Sports Report for spring sports for 2019.
Kinsley Driggers, from East Clarendon High School, was honored as All State Softball player for 2019.  Banquet was held Sunday at Seawell’s in Columbia.
Kinsley finished her senior year at East Clarendon with batting average of .437, 31 hits, 6 home runs and 32 RBI.  Also 29 Home runs for four years playing at EC.  Her coach calls her “Special K”

College of Charleston Spring 2019 Commencement

CHARLESTON, SC– The College of Charleston celebrated Spring 2019 Commencement with three ceremonies on May 10 & 11, 2019. The following local students were among more than 1,700 bachelor’s degree and master’s degree candidates who participated in the iconic annual event in the College’s historic Cistern Yard:

Lindsay Lloyd, of Charleston, SC, graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
David Geddings, of Manning, SC, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.


Two Clarendon Hall student athletes receive All State award

Two Clarendon Hall athletes Amberly Way and Bailey Corbett received All State awards from the High School Sports Report for softball on Sunday at their Spring banquet at Seawells in Columbia.
Amberly Way a rising freshmen pitcher finished with a .561 batting average with 19 RBI’s, 2 home runs and 23 runs scored. She had record of 11-9 with 151 strikeouts.
Bailey Corbett a rising junior short stop finished with a .439 batting average, 13 RBI’s and 19 runs scored.


Gibbons Street still blocked due to storm damage

Gibbons, Robbins and Mill Streets are still partially or fully blocked from yesterday’s storm.  Sumter Utilities crews are on scene and are working to repair snapped power poles and lines that are on the ground.

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation awarded Clarendon County Adult Education an $8000 grant to support adult literacy in May from The Dollar General Literacy Foundation. This local grant award is part of more than $8.3 million in grants awarded to more than 1,000 schools, nonprofits and organizations across the 44 states that Dollar General serves.

Momo” is a 3 year old female Domestic Medium Hair cat. Momo is up to date on all of her vaccinations, spayed, and tested negative for Feline Leukemia and Aids. She is friendly, and gets along with other cats. All of her kittens have found homes, but Momo is still looking for her forever home! She would make a great addition to your family! Mary” is a 2 year old female Sheppard/Hound mix. She is current on all of her vaccinations, has been spayed, and tested negative for heartworms. Mary was very shy and timid when she first came to the shelter, but each day she is coming out of her shell more and more. Mary is getting better each day with walking on a leash! Born on March 6, 1957, in the Silver Community of Summerton, she was a daughter of the late James Andrew and Lois Smith-Servance.
The family is receiving relatives and friends from 5:00pm-9:00pm at the residence 5426 Summerton Hwy., Manning
Funeral services are incomplete and will be announced by the Fleming & DeLaine Funeral Home and Chapel of Manning. .
