1 killed in single-vehicle crash

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is reporting one person dead after the driver's car hit a tree early Saturday morning. Troopers say the single-car wreck happened about 3:20 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of S.C. 261 and J.W. Rhames Road. The deceased was driving a 2004 Acura TL east on S.C. 261 when the car ran off the right side of the road, hit a tree and rolled, ejecting the driver. The Clarendon County Coroner's Office pronounced the driver to be deceased at McLeod Health Clarendon. No identity has been released yet.
