The Lady Wolverines SHUTOUT the Bears of Carvers Bay

Maddie Newsome shut down Carvers Bay, throwing a complete game shutout and leading East Clarendon to a 6-0 victory on Thursday. The Wolverines got things started in the first inning when Kinsley Driggers homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring three runs. Newsome led things off in the circle for East Clarendon. She allowed five hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out one. The Carvers Bay pitcher surrendered six runs on six hits over four innings, striking out three and walking one. The bullpen threw one inning on the night. East Clarendon was able to hit two home runs on the day. Driggers put one out in the first inning. Zoe McElveen went deep in the fourth inning. The Lady Wolverines collected eight hits. Hannah Hickman, Driggers, and McElveen all managed multiple hits. McElveen, Driggers, and Hickman each collected two hits to lead the Wolverines. East Clarendon was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Britni Anderson had the most chances in the field with ten. Carvers Bay leading hitter had two hits in two at bats. Carvers Bay didn't commit a single error in the field.
