Frank Lee "Ray" Jackson, 68, was born on Jan. 28, 1951, in Clarendon County, a son of the late James H. Sr. and Ethel Davis Jackson. He departed this life on Monday, April 8, 2019, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital in Sumter.

Frank, affectionately known as "Ray Jackson," was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Manning Training Center Class of 1969. He continued his education and became a certified auto mechanic. He taught auto mechanics at Central Carolina Technical College for more than three years. He loved auto repairs with a passion.

Ray Jackson leaves to cherish his memories: his companion, Stephanie Black; two daughters, Vianna (Jewel) Black of the home and Samantha (Cornelius) Benjamin of Charleston; one son, Shane Black of Sumter; four brothers, Ervin (Queen) Jackson, Samuel Jackson, David (Lyndia) Jackson and Josiah (Karita) Jackson; a special sister-in-law, Barbara Jackson; 17 grandchildren; a best friend, Joseph "Joe" Holmes; a godson, John (Roc) Lewis Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Minnie Brisbone, Mary Ann Session and Ruth Jackson; three brothers, Henry, Daniel and Timothy Jackson; two nephews, ZeBrian and Windon Jackson; and one niece, Adrian Blanding.

A public viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Job's Mortuary.

Mr. Jackson will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. on Sunday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center, 101 S. Salem Ave. in Sumter, with the Rev. Eugene Winn officiating.

The family will receive friends at 1023 Manning Road in Sumter.
