Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office participates in Band-Aids for Jack

When Jack Mims was nine months old, he was diagnosed with an autoinflammatory disease so rare it has no name, and he is the only person in the U.S. with his exact symptoms. Throughout his six years of life, Jack has struggled with a disease which attacks his organs and which has no known medications. Doctors use medications normally used to treat other diseases to slow the progression of Jack’s disease.

OBITUARY: Keith C. Kirby

Mr. Keith C. Kirby, age 75, husband of the late Judith Laugherty Kirby, died on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at his residence after a brief illness.

Mr. Kirby was born in Cades, SC on March 20, 1943 to the late Luther W. and Ola Gowdy Kirby. He was retired and enjoyed the “Lake Life” with his dogs Spencer and Max.

Robin Ann Roberts Harvey, 53, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at McLeod Hospice House.

Born March 30, 1965, in Agana Heights, Guam, she was a daughter of George Morgan Roberts, Jr. and Judith Ann Wilson Roberts. She was formerly employed as a clerk of court for Charleston County and worked for City Electric Company in North Charleston.

Areas of Clarendon County and Manning are without mobile phone service. FTC is aware of the issue, but does not yet know the cause. Data service, including LTE and 3G, are also affected.

Man dragged by Clarendon County school bus, injuries not life-threatening

A Walker-Gamble Elementary School bus encountered a truck stopped in a roadway while taking students home on Wednesday afternoon. The pickup was blocking much of the dirt road, and a bystander came close to the bus to show the driver how to drive around.

The bystander’s clothing was tangled in the bus, and the bus dragged the man six feet. His injuries were not life-threatening, but they were serious enough he was taken to the hospital. No one else was injured during the incident.

OBITUARY: Debra Leah Prickett Corriveau

Debra Leah Prickett Corriveau, 62, wife of Robert Richard Corriveau, died Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at McLeod Health Clarendon.

Born May 4, 1956, in Dover, New Jersey, she was a daughter of the late Watson Prickett and the late Elizabeth Sherwood Prickett.

She is survived by her husband of Manning; a son, Shawn Corriveau (Kayla) of Florida; a brother, Dean Prickett (Linda) of Atlanta, Georgia; and two grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2019, at Clarendon Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Patrick Goodwin officiating.

Patricia Ann Lee Hamilton, 70, widow of Albert Jenkinson Hamilton, died Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at her home.

Born May 15, 1948, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Lewis Ellington Lee and the late Annie Mitchum Lee Ridgeway.

She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Lynn Hutson (Donny) of Manning, Angie Servello of Summerville and Mary Lynch (Charlie) of Summerton; three brothers, Jerry Lee (Mary Lee) of Manning, Curtis Lee (Gloria) of Sumter and Danny Lee of Manning; eight grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.

East Clarendon coach in early morning wreck

East Clarendon High School boys’ basketball coach Seneca Barron, along with his wife and son, was involved in a car wreck in Florence Wednesday morning at around 7:15 a.m.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol Cpl. Sonny Collins, a 2018 Ford Explorer was traveling east on Burnt Branch Road. Barron and his family were in a 2006 Chrysler going south on Salem Road, on the way to school.

“It looks like the Explorer disregarded the stop sign and struck the Chrysler,” said Collins.
