Swampcats defeat Manning High

The Laurence Manning Academy varsity baseball team stole the lead late in the game Wednesday against Manning High School to get to a 9-3 victory. The game was tied at 2, with LMA batting in the bottom of the sixth when Seth Stamps drew a walk, scoring one run. LMA secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the sixth inning. The offensive firepower by LMA was led by Stamps, Britton Morris, Jake Jordan, and J.T. Stanley, all knocking in runs in the inning. In the first inning Manning High School got their offense started when Chandler Evans doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs. In the bottom of the third inning, LMA tied things up at 2. Aaron Carlton drove in one when he singled. Jordan was on the hill for LMA varsity. He went five innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out six. Evans was on the pitcher's mound for Manning High School. He lasted two innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out one and walking one. Landon McDaniel threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen. LMA tallied 10 hits. Andrew Boyd and Chase Lee each collected multiple hits for LMA. Lee and Boyd each collected two hits to lead LMA . LMA stole six bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Boyd led the way with two. LMA was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Stamps had the most chances in the field with ten. Jake Owens went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Manning High School in hits. LMA plays at Williamsburg Academy Saturday night at 630pm. LMA currently sits at 4-0 (1-0 conference).
