Swampcats defeat Pinewood Prep

Despite allowing four runs in the fourth inning of its game against Pinewood Prep, the Laurence Manning Academy varsity baseball team defeated the Lowcountry school Friday by a final score of 9-5. Trey Blume, Caleb Thompson, Noah Cadiz and Tyler Evans each had RBIs in the frame. The Swampcats got things moving in the first inning, when Aaron Carlton singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run. LMA tallied six runs in the third inning. The Swampcats' offense in the inning was led by Carlton, Britton Morris, Andrew Boyd, Chase Lee and Seth Stamps, who all knocked in runs in the inning. Buddy Gales got the start for LMA. He allowed three hits and one run over three innings, striking out six. Cooper Robinson led things off on the hill for Pinewood Prep.He surrendered eight runs on nine hits over three innings, striking out one and walking one. Alec Rehagan threw three innings in relief. LMA smacked one home run on the day, as Morris went deep in the third inning. LMA racked up 13 hits. Morris, Carlton, Boyd and Burgess Jordan all managed multiple hits for the LMA varsity baseball team. Jordan, Boyd, Carlton and Morris each collected two hits to lead. T.J. Hatchett led Pinewood Prep with two hits in three at bats. The Swampcats returned Saturday to Pinewood Prep for another victory.
