Arrests made in $20,000 theft

During the late evening hours on February 19, 2019, a break-in occurred at a vehicle shop on Hwy. 260. The incident was reported to the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office on February 20, 2019, when the victim arrived at the location.  Upon arrival, the victim noticed a broken window and a rear garage door opened halfway where entry was made. Miscellaneous items valued at over $20,000.00 were stolen from the location. These items included a 1950 Coca-Cola button, a Hilti hammer drill, a red Lincoln 125 welder, a Miller 185 welder, a Miller Spectrum 375 plasma cutter, a Hitachi nail gun, a red and white Honda CRF 80cc dirt bike, a DeWalt chop saw, several car parts, tools, antiques, antique signs and computer monitors. Through an ongoing investigation, the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office was able to identify two suspects. On March 07, 2019, warrants were obtained and arrests were made. The two suspects arrested, both from Clarendon County, were 37-year-old Andrew Thomas Scurry and 21-year-old Brent Wittner and charged with Burglary and Grand Larceny. Many of the stolen items from the incident that occurred on February 19 have been recovered. Additional charges may be pending. Sheriff Tim Baxley stated that these arrests have led to additional leads to at least two other crimes at this time.
