MHS student threatens herself and school

A Manning High School student was intercepted Monday morning and sent home after making threats online. The school’s resource officer learned a female student had posted, then deleted, on social media stating she hated everyone at the school and wanted to shoot it up and kill herself. As she arrived at school on Monday, she was immediately intercepted by the resource officer, and her parents were called. The resource officer, along with school officials, questioned the girl, who stated she no intentions of shooting herself or anyone else, and she had tried to delete the post before anyone else saw it. The student was immediately suspended and sent home with a parent Monday morning. There was never a safety issue at the school. However, the school did post extra officers on Monday and Tuesday as a precautionary measure. The investigation continued through Tuesday, when the student was charged with Student Threats.  She is awaiting a family court hearing on the charges as well as an expulsion hearing from the school.
