The beeping door alarms went off at Tractor Supply in Manning on January 25, alerting the cashier. She looked up and saw an African American man holding an orange Husqvarna chainsaw in his hand, which he had not paid for. The man appeared to the cashier to be in his early 20s, and he wore blue jeans, a dark blue or black pullover and black shoes. According to the cashier, she loudly told the man to put the chainsaw down. However, the man hesitated only briefly before darting out the front sliding doors. The cashier chased the man yelling for him to stop. In the parking lot, both the man and the cashier stopped, and again, she ordered him to drop the chainsaw. The cashier stated the man ran to an army green Jeep Patriot, with a South Carolina tag, which she believed to be PTZ971. She asserts the driver of the vehicle shouted, “Come on, man, let’s go.” The man got into the passenger side of the Jeep and left the parking lot. The stolen chainsaw is a 455 Rancher 20-inch, valued at $450. The suspect is still at large. Anyone with any information should call the Manning Police Department at (803) 435-8859.
