Man arrested at Walmart in Manning

A North man, later identified as Ryan Gray Moore, 45, was arrested at Walmart in Manning on January 29. Moore appeared to purchase a soundbar. However, he used a barcode from an Onn 2.0 Soundbar, valued at $38 to “purchase” a Samsung Soundbar, valued at $290. An unnamed Walmart employee caught the fraudulent purchase almost immediately and contacted law enforcement. When officers arrived, Moore was just leaving the Walmart parking lot toward Paxville Highway. Police officers were able to catch Moore, and he was brought back to Walmart. The employee verified Moore was the person involved, and he was also suspected in other pending Walmart cases, which were not disclosed. Moore was read his rights, although he stated he would speak with law enforcement officers regarding the soundbar. After speaking with him, officers placed him under arrest and searched him. During the search, a red Xacto Razor Blade, a Rapid Fuse All Purpose Adhesive, a pair of pink and purple scissors and a red lighter were found in his jacket and pants pockets, which Moore allegedly did not pay for. Moore was transported to the Clarendon County Detention Center, where he was booked for Giving False Information to Law Enforcement, Shoplifting and two counts of Obtaining Goods Under False Pretenses. Moore had a bond hearing on January 31 and was released with a $2,000 Personal Recognizance bond while awaiting his trial.
