OBITUARY: Imogene Baggette “Jean” Ridgeway

Imogene Baggette “Jean” Ridgeway, 85, widow of Atford Fillmore Ridgeway, died Monday, January 28, 2019, at McLeod Hospice House.

Born December 9, 1933, in Manning, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Baggette, Sr. and the late Macye Ether Ridgeway Baggette. She was a customer service representative for Health Source Provident for 30 years and a lifelong member of Liberty Free Will Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis R. Rochester (Ben) of Manning; two sons, Stan Ridgeway of Westminster and Dr. Reuben B. Ridgeway (Libby) of Orangeburg; two grandchildren, Tonya R. Foster of Manning and Benjamin Rivers Ridgeway of Orangeburg; a great granddaughter, Jenna Foster Brown (Wade) of Summerton; two great-great grandchildren, Grant William Brown and Eliza Grace Brown; a sister, Barbara Spigner; a brother, Butch Baggette (Renea), both of Manning; and her special caregiver, Beulah Briggs Palmer.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded by a son, Anthony F. “Tony” Ridgeway; three brothers, Wilbert, Furman and Neil Baggette; and a sister, Stella Thigpen.

A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church with the Revs. David Carlson and Kenneth Upright officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bennie Baggette, Kyle Baggette, Cody Welch, Andrew Stone, Kirk Way, Jason Lyle, Brandon Baggette and Ben Ridgeway.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church.
