Michael Cornelius Gamble, 37, of Richland County, was arrested in Manning on Friday in connection with the death of his five-year-old son in North Columbia.
After the child's death, an autopsy was performed, showing significant bruising and injuries which led to his death. The child had been in the custody of Gamble, his biological father, when the incident occurred.
Gamble was arrested in Manning without incident by State Law Enforcement. He was transported back to Richland County for booking.
