James Lawrence “Lance” Gibson, 66, husband of Jane Adams Gibson, died Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at McLeod Seacoast Hospital in Little River.

Born October 17, 1952, in Laurinburg, North Carolina, he was a son of the late James Allen Gibson and the late Dorothy Wilson Gibson. He was a sales manager in the industrial automation and robotics industry. He was a faithful member of Seacoast Manning Church and regular visitor of Barefoot Church while seasonally residing in Cherry Grove.

He is survived by his wife of Summerton; a son, James Lawrence Gibson, Jr. (Malina) of Hanahan; two daughters, Andrea Gibson Pike (Jason) of Graham, North Carolina and Mary Gibson Moldt (Patrick) of Apex, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Laurel Elizabeth Pike, McIntyre Benjamin Pike, Alice Jane Moldt, Parker Troy Gibson, Grace Catherine Moldt and Mya Faith Gibson; two sisters, Mira Gibson Kenney (Dan) of Lumberton, North Carolina and Melissa Gibson Judd (Greg) of Aberdeen, North Carolina; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He had two great joys in life – faith and family.  His relationship with Christ and spiritual journey were a priority and impressed upon his family.  Second, his nearly 50 year marriage to the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Jane. They enjoyed time with family, Church Life groups, walks on the beach and being called Daddypop and GG.

He had a love of Christ that was exemplified by his servant’s leader heart and concern for others. Whether he was helping those displaced by floods, working a food bank, serving as volunteer fireman, being a caring neighbor, or assisting as a church greeter/security team member his actions honored God.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm. on Friday, January 25, 2019, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Fleming officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home.
