Manning man dead after shooting incident

A Clarendon County man is dead after a shooting incident at a Paxville Highway home about 9:20 p.m. Tuesday. Clarendon County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched about that same time to a home in the 8800 block of Paxville Highway after 911 operators reported a shooting. Charles Lee Cummings was hit twice in the chest and shoulder area. He later died as a result of his injuries, according to reports. "At this time, the Clarendon County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the incident, and the subject remains at large," said Sheriff Tim Baxley in a release. "This is not a random act of violence. This incident was an isolated incident." Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call the Clarendon County Sheriff's Office at (803) 435-4414.
