Clarendon County voting results

While much of South Carolina is still under-reported at this time, Clarendon County has completed tallying its votes. All 26 precincts have reported. The below numbers reflect only Clarendon County and not the final state-wide votes. These are the contested elections. Elections in which there were no contests are not listed below. Out of 20,200 registered voters, 11,307, or 56%, turned out to cast a ballot. 5,105 voters cast a straight Democratic ballot, with 2,944 casting a straight Republican ballot. Democratic candidate James Smith took the vote in Clarendon County with 55% of the vote, and Democratic candidate Melvin Whittenburg took the Clarendon vote for Secretary of State with 53% of the vote. Democratic candidate Rosalyn Glenn took the Clarendon County vote for State Treasurer with 52% of the vote, and Democratic candidate Constance Anastopuolo took the Clarendon vote for Attorney General with 53% of the vote. Democratic candidate Israel Romero took the Clarendon County vote for State Superintendent of Education with 52% of the vote, and Republican candidate Hugh Weathers took the Clarendon vote for Commissioner of Agriculture with 78% of the vote. Democratic Candidate James Clyburn took the Clarendon County vote for U.S. House of Representatives with 55% of the vote. In local non-partisan contested positions, three School Board members were elected from five candidates in School District 1. The three are Keith Bowman with 26% of the vote, Tony Junious with 28% of the vote and Cindy Risher with 20% of the vote. Clarendon County voters preferred to keep the position of South Carolina Superintendent of Education as an elected position, with 57% of voters selecting this option.
