OBITUARY: Linda Wilder Gamble

MANNING – Linda Wilder Gamble, 71, wife of William Richard “Willie” Gamble, died Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Lake Marion Nursing Facility.

Born October 8, 1947, in Kingstree, she was a daughter of the late Olin Buford Wilder and the late Lucy Camlin Wilder. She was a member of the Lord Clarendon Cotillion and she was an avid Duke University basketball fan. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Manning.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Susan Gamble Hartzog (Bobby) and Lucy Gamble Smith (Brian); two brothers, Robert Edgar Wilder, Sr. (Deana) and Gerald Camlin Wilder, Sr. (Joyce), all of Manning; a sister, Barbara Wilder Mixon (Grover) of Kingstree; four grandchildren, Lucy Camlin Hartzog, Anne Wilder Hartzog, John Wilder Smith and Graham Matthews Hartzog; a number of beloved nieces and nephews; and special friends, Angie Barwick Jordan (Bill), Mary Ashley Huckaby (Tommy) and Paige Jordan-Chipley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Olin Buford Wilder, Jr.

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, October 22, 2018, at the Presbyterian Church at Manning with the Rev. Dr. George Wilkes officiating. Burial will follow in Clarendon Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Robert Edgar Wilder, Jr., Gerald Camlin Wilder II, Justin Mathew Wilder, Bryan Christopher Mixon, Mark Lee Wilder, William Jackson Brewer, William Finlay Jordan and Thomas Leroy Huckaby, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be her great nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2018, at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 27 Pinestraw Lane, Manning.
