South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of 22-year-old Duston Steven Jones of Sumter on October 10 in connection with sexual exploitation of a minor. Law enforcement officers with the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the arrest, as did the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Secret Service, while the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators with the Attorney General’s Office made the arrest. A CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) led investigators to Jones, where they discovered multiple files of child pornography in his possession. Jones was charged with three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, third degree. This felony offense is punishable by up to ten years imprisonment on each count. Attorney General Wilson stressed all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law. The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
