Obituary: Ingrid Suzanne Clay Wells Stogner

Ingrid Suzanne Clay Wells Stogner, 81, of Rockwell, NC, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018.  She was born March 24, 1937, in Manhattan, NY to the late Arthur Clinton Clay and Mildred Emilie Wolf Clay.

Mrs. Stogner attended UNC-Chapel Hill, receiving her Bachelor's degree in English and Education and later her Master's of Education. She began her teaching career in 1958, teaching English, Spanish, and German, while also coaching cheerleading. Mrs. Stogner taught in New York, Pennsylvania, Scotland, Guam, Texas, Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina; she taught at Forest Hills High School in Marshville, NC from 1980-1989 and retired from Manning High School in Manning, SC in 2007.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stogner was preceded in death by her husband, William Lathan Stogner, who passed away in 2005.

Mrs. Stogner is survived by her children Iain M. Wells and wife, Diana, of Wilmington, NC, Clay E. Wells and wife, Jeffersina, of Miamisburg, OH, Amy Wells Roseman, and husband, Todd, of Rockwell, NC, Wren Stogner Bunch of Sumter, SC, and Adam C. Stogner and wife, Addie, of Sumter, SC, and her grandchildren, Rachel L. Wells of Wilmington, NC,  Morgan M. Wells, of Seattle, WA, Shannon R. Wells of Wilmington, NC, Clay E. Wells, Jr., of Unicoi, TN, William J. Wells, Alaina M. Wells, and Iain M. Wells, all of Miamisburg, OH, Tyler S. Roseman and Callie N. Roseman, both of Rockwell, and Kaye S. Bunch and Elizabeth V. Bunch, both of Sumter, SC.

The family will greet friends and relatives from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, October 12, 2018, at Powles Staton Funeral Home, 913 W. Main Street, Rockwell, NC 28138.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 13, 2018, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 116 S. Church Street, Monroe, NC 28112, conducted by Rev. Dr. Jim Croom.
