Guilty Pleas: September General Sessions

The following pleas were heard during two separate terms of General Sessions Court held Sept. 17-21 and Sept. 24-28 at the Clarendon County Courthouse before 3rd Circuit Judge R. Ferrell Cothran. David Bodger of 1821 M.W. Rickenbaker Road in Manning pleaded guilty Sept. 17 to first-degree assault and battery, receiving a sentence of seven years in prison, suspended to time-served and three years' probation. Further charges of possession of a weapon during a violent crime and possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person convicted of a violent felony were dropped during the plea proceedings. Bodger served two days at the Clarendon County Detention Center after his arrest, according to the Clarendon County Public Court Index. Cynthia Lea Carnes of 312 Sunset Drive in Manning pleaded guilty Sept. 28 to financial transaction card fraud of a value of $500 or less in a six-month period, receiving a sentence of one year in prison, suspended to time-served with one year's probation, with probation terminated upon restitution. A further count of financial transaction card fraud of a value of $500 or less in a six-month period was dropped during the plea proceedings. Carnes served one day at the Clarendon County Detention Center after her arrest, according to the Clarendon Public Court Index. Michael Ricky Compton of 90 Corn Court in Sumter pleaded guilty Sept. 19 to second-degree burglary, receiving a sentence of 10 years in prison, suspended to four years in prison and five years' probation and restitution. Compton also pleaded guilty to grand larceny of a value of $10,000 or more, receiving a concurrent sentence of 10 years in prison, suspended to four years in prison and five years' probation. Cameron Donvile Conyers of 435 N. Brooks St. in Manning pleaded guilty Sept. 17 to unlawful carrying of a pistol, receiving a sentence of 90 days in jail. Akeem Stevon Croslen on 2756 Liberty Hill Road in Summerton pleaded guilty Sept. 18 to first-degree assault and battery, receiving a sentence of five years in prison, suspended to time-served and three years' probation. Croslen also pleaded guilty to unlawful carrying of a pistol, receiving a sentence of time-served. According to the Clarendon County Public Court Index, Croslen had been held at the Clarendon County Detention Center without bond since his arrest May 23. Other charges of armed robbery, mayhem and possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person convicted of a violent felony were dropped during plea proceedings. Timothy Russell Frye of 2796 Branham Road in Manning pleaded guilty Sept. 19 to second-degree burglary, non-violent, receiving a sentence of seven years in prison, suspended to 18 months in prison and three years' probation. He also received a sentence of five years in prison, suspended to one month in jail and two years' probation for a plea to grand larceny of a value of $10,000 or more. Jacqueline Yvonne Gaines of 6402 Silver Road in Manning pleaded guilty Sept. 17 to second-degree domestic violence, receiving a sentence of two years in prison, suspended to nine months' probation. Derrick Yvonne Gibson of 1035 Delaine St. in Summerton pleaded guilty Sept. 18 to two charges of breaking into motor vehicle or tanks, pumps, where fuel, lubricants are stored, receiving concurrent sentences of three years in prison. Robert W. Hendrix Jr. of 1193 Harbor House Drive in Manning pleaded guilty Sept. 17 to two charges of forgery, no dollar amount involved, receiving concurrent sentences of 90 days in jail or the payment of a $150 fine. Elexus Deanna James of 1221 Westwood Drive in Manning pleaded guilty Sept. 18 to unlawful neglect of a child or helpless person, receiving a sentence of seven years in prison, suspended to time-served and three years' probation. James served one day at the Clarendon County Detention Center after her Aug. 15 arrest. Louis Charles Jenkins Jr. of 9910 Lewis Road in Manning pleaded guilty Sept. 19 to second-degree domestic violence, receiving a sentence of one year in prison, suspended to time-served and one year's probation. The Clarendon Public Index shows Jenkins was held without bond at the Clarendon County Detention Center since his July 31 arrest. A charge of kidnapping was also dropped during plea proceedings. William Howard McCoy of 4950 Pinewood Road in Pinewood pleaded guilty Sept. 28 to failure to stop for a blue light, resulting in no injury or death, first offense, receiving a sentence of time-served. According to the Clarendon Public Court Index, McCoy had been held at the Clarendon County Detention Center without bond since his arrest Sept. 8, 2016. Donald William Moore Jr. of 525 Hunts Bride Road, Lot 10, in Greenville, pleaded guilty Sept. 19 to criminal solicitation of a minor, receiving a sentence of seven years in prison, suspended to time-served and three years' probation. Though granted a bond, Moore was unable to post after his March 28 arrest and was held at the Clarendon County Detention Center til his plea, according to the Clarendon County Public Court Index. Dashell Davonne Powell of 209 Bradham Ave. in Manning pleaded guilty Sept 20 to third-degree assault and battery, receiving a sentence of 30 days in jail or payment of a $125 fine. Powell also pleaded guilty to petit or simple larceny of a value of $2,000 or less, receiving a concurrent sentence of 30 days in jail or the payment of a $120 fine. John Edward Rhames of 3 First St. in Summerton pleaded guilty Sept. 19 to second-degree assault and battery, receiving a sentence of 90 days in jail. Harry Ronald Tindal of 8899 Lewis Road in Paxville pleaded guilty Sept. 28 to forgery, no dollar amount involved, receiving a sentence of three years in prison, suspended to time-served with one year's probation. Tindal also pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine, first offense, receiving a concurrent sentence of three years in prison, suspended to time-served with one year's probation. The Clarendon County Public Court Index shows that Tindal served one day after his Aug. 27 arrest. Justin Turner of 1555 Ethan Stone Road in Manning pleaded guilty Sept. 19 to second-degree burglary, receiving a sentence of 10 years in prison, suspended to four years in prison and five years' probation.
