TURBEVILLE - Franklin Don Smith, 86, passed away Monday, Oct. 1, 2018, at his home, after an illness.

Graveside services will be held 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018, at Pine Grove United Methodist Church cemetery, directed by Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta. The family will received guests immediately following services inside the Pine Grove United Methodist Church gymnasium.

Born in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late David Ernest Smith and Evelyn Driggers Smith. He was retired from Santee Print Works, and previously worked with Western Auto Associate Store. He was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church and its Men’s Sunday School Class.

He was preceded in death by a son, Hugh Smith; four brothers, Jack Smith, James Hugh Smith (Jean), David Smith and Clyde Smith; and two brothers-in-law, Earl Gowdy and Garland Baxley.

Survivors include his wife, Laurita Jordan Smith of Turbeville; three children, Landa Bleasdale of Manning, Marti B. Smith of Turbeville and Lauranne (David) Mays of Lexington; four sisters, Sybil Gowdy of Cades, Frankie Baxley and Myra (David) Nesbitt, both of Turbeville, and Edie (Mike) Ater of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; a brother, Cecil (Sandy) Smith of Turbeville; two sisters-in-law, Dianne Smith of Rock Hill and Andy Smith of Fayetteville, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Leah Bleasdale, Jordan Bleasdale, Buddy Bleasdale, Braydon Smith, Brennan Smith, Blythe Smith, Jessica (Chad) Britt and Lynn (Matt) Nutter; and five great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Beebe Coker, Meredith Myers, Dell Mueller and Tonya Smith with Amedysis Hospice, and Dr. Priscilla Welch for the love and care they provided.
