JV Lady Saints remain undefeated in region softball

The Clarendon Hall junior varsity softball team raised its record to 11-0 on the season with a 6-0 win over Andrew Jackson Academy at home. Amberly Way pitched a 13 strike out,no walks no hitter for the win. The Lady Saints were led offensively by Wells James going 1-2 with 1 RBI and Ashley Timmons going 1-1 with 1 RBI. Sidney Berry was also 1-2. Hadleigh McIntosh and Olivia Wilson were both 1-3, The JV Lady Saints finish their region schedule undefeated at 9-0. They will play out of region Monday in Summerton against Orangeburg Prep.

More than 17 years ago, Have Faith Community Development Corporation opened its doors in Alcolu to serve single mothers, struggling families and children in the foster care system.
In 2008, Roberta “Birdie” Leader, sister to HFCDC CEO Bishop D.J.L. Johnson, died from complications due to breast cancer.
During her lifetime, Leader’s vibrant personality, strong faith, helpful attitude and positive attitude touched everyone involved with HFCDC, her best friend said.

LMA student wins Prudential Community of Spirit Silver Medal

Laurence Manning sophomore Alyssa Gottheiner was presented April 11 with the Prudential Community of Spirit silver medal, with the entire school body filling the gymnasium to see the girl’s achievement.

Summerton man faces drug, property charges after traffic stop

A 49-year-old Summerton man faces several drug and property offenses after a minor traffic stop on April 16.
An investigator with the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office attempted that day to stop a white GMC truck which showed damage to its front bumper.
“This vehicle description had been reported being sen in many reported burglaries,” said Sheriff Tim Baxley. “The driver (allegedly) refused to stop for a blue light, which proceeded into a pursuit.”
That pursuit, Baxley said, ended at Furse Road in Summerton, after which Stacey Kyle Pritchard of Summerton allegedly ran into the woods.
