Bruce D. Hancock, 82, widower of Helen Rodgers Hancock, died Monday, April 9, 2018, at Palmetto Health Tuomey in Sumter.

Born Aug. 31, 1935, in Ashwood, he was a son of the late James B. Hancock and Cila Troublefield Hancock. He was a member of Paxville Baptist Church and an honorary member of Riverside Hunting Club. He was the owner and operator of Bruce Hancock and Son Plumbing.

Survivors include three children, Danny Hancock (Jenny), Kathy Hancock (Don Griffin) and Margaret Hodge, all of Sumter; five grandchildren, Dana Hutson, Shannon Tolson (Luke), Mary-Helen Hodge, June Hutson (Andy) and Jennifer Galvin (Craig); five great-grandchildren, D.J. Hutson (Rikki), Krell Hutson, Carley Hutson, Anthony Hutson and Kennedy Hutson; and his loving pet, Ellie.

He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Dale Hodge; and five siblings, Idell Brown, Melissa Coulter, R.B. Hancock, Clayton Hancock and Myrtle Shore.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2018, at Paxville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Eugene Mosier officiating.

Burial will be in Paxville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Andy Hutson, Eric Brown, Krell Hutson, D.J. Hutson, Warren Davis and George Hodge.

Honorary pallbearers will include Bud Youmans and Archie Geddings.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2018. at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home, and other times at the home.
