Clarendon Hall varsity baseball traveled to Florence on Monday and defeated The Kings Academy by a score of 10-3. Wells Robinson pitched a 4 hit complete game to receive the win. Michael Bolyston led the offense going 2-2 and 3 rbi. Bobby Ashba was 1-3 with 2 rbi and Kameron Earles and Wells Robinson were 2-5 and 2 rbi each. Jonathan McIntosh ended with 2 rbi and Dylan Way was 1-2.

Summerton Southern Methodist to hold annual Barbecue Chicken Supper

Summerton Southern Methodist Church will hold its annual Barbecue Chicken Supper from 4-7 p.m. April 7 at the Vernon Way Fellowship Hall. For the convenience of people in the Manning area and those who purchased tickets and requested delivery to Manning, plates will be delivered at 5 p.m. to Walker Tire and Recapping on Mill Street in Manning. Anyone wishing a pate may call (803) 485-8237 before 3 p.m. Saturday. Plates are $8 each.


Lady Swampcats

The Lady Swampcats showed up and brought the bats with them in their 15-5 victory over Calhoun Academy Monday afternoon at Julie Skolar field in Manning, improving to 6-2 on the season.
Hannah Kate Branham was the winning pitcher for the Swampcats, throwing ten strikeouts and only walking four through six innings.

Samuel “Sam” Levy, 61, husband of Dorothy Mellerson Levy, died Monday, March 26, 2018, at the Medical University of South Carolina hospital in Charleston.
Born March 2, 1957, in Summerton, he was a son of the late James Levy Sr. and Daisy Riley Levy. He was the owner and operator of Sam Levy and Sons Photography Studio.
The family will receive friends at the home, 4075 Alex Harvin Highway in Manning.
Services will be announced by Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning.

On March 21st the Manning High School Symphonic Band traveled to West Ashley High School to participate in the South Carolina Band Director’s Association Concert Performance Assessment. The Concert Performance Assessment consists of two parts. The first part is a stage performance with two prepared pieces of adequate grade level. The second part is the sight reading component where the teacher has six minutes to teach the piece to the students without them playing in the teaching period, and then performing the piece for the judges after time is called.
