On Feb. 16, Royalty Auto Sales opened its doors for business in Manning. Family and friends, along with community leaders and prospective buyers came out to welcome Carl Beard and Mike Ogburn, longtime friends and partners at Royalty Auto Sales. Carl Beard said, "This is a dream come true. I have been in the car business for over 34 years and God blessed me with this opportunity. Mike and I worked hard to get here. He believed in my vision and my plan. He has helped me to see it come to fruition.” Carl Beard and Mike Ogburn have been friends for 9 years. It took almost 2 years to find the right location to put a car dealership. They had been scouting a location in Sumter but Manning was where their dream became a reality. The staff at Royalty Auto, along with the Clarendon County Chamber of Commerce, organized a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of Royalty Auto Sales. "This would not have been possible if not for the support from our families, friends, and the people of Clarendon," said Ogburn, "These people believe in what we stand for and have faith that we will be successful." Beard said, “We want to thank everyone that has been there for us during the development and planning of this venture. We are thankful and honored to be where we are and will strive to provide good, dependable vehicles for the residents of Manning as well as anyone else who needs a car.” Royalty Auto Sales is located at 3299 Sumter Highway next to the F.E. Dubose Career Center.
