Horace Laffaye Browder

MANNING – Horace Laffaye Browder, 82, husband of Annette Fryar Browder, died Friday, February 9, 2018, at McLeod Hospice House.

 

Born May 28, 1935, in Johnsonville, he was a son of the late Audry Morant Browder and the late Essie Powell Browder. He was a US Army veteran and a member of Manning United Methodist Church. In addition to his career of 43 years with CSX Railroad, he was active for many years with the American Red Cross and Meals on Wheels. He greatly enjoyed these volunteer opportunities.

 

He is survived by his wife of Manning; a daughter, Greta Browder Howe (Donald) of Charleston; a son, Horace Browder, Jr. (Lourdes) of Colorado Springs, CO; five grandchildren, Don Howe, Jr., Julia Corbett Howe, Robert Gasque Howe, Jayson William Browder and Isis Kareny Garcia; a great grandson, Phoenix Jordan Garcia; and three sisters, Mildred Browder Hughes of Johnsonville, Erma Browder Owens of Pleasant Hill and Lois Browder Cox of Hemingway.

 

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2018, at Manning United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kem Thomas and the Rev. Dr. James C. Adams officiating.

 

Pallbearers will be Donald Howe, Jr., Robert Howe, Timmy Lowder, Marty Lowder, Greg Tisdale and Gary Owens.

 

Graveside services will be private.

 

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 3 to 4 p.m. in the church fellowship hall and other times at the residence, 400 Bagnal Street, Manning.
