Breaking News: Clarendon Hall closes due to Flu

Due to the number of flu cases we currently have, Clarendon Hall School will be closed tomorrow through Friday this week. We hope that in doing this, everyone will take the opportunity to stay home and get well. ALL extracurricular activities are canceled as well, to include the SCISA Spelling Bee, basketball practice, games and Powder Puff game. The games scheduled for tonight will be played.

William David Jenkins, 75

SUMMERTON – William David Jenkins, 75, husband of Marcella Pence Jenkins, died Monday, January 22, 2018, at Lake Marion Nursing Facility. Born November 8, 1942, in Florence, he was a son of the late Jacob William Jenkins and the late Sarah Emma Kelly Jenkins. He was a former police officer for the Sumter Police Department and a former deputy sheriff for the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. He retired from H.D. Supply Company. Marvin is a 4month-old, male, grey tabby Kitten. He loves attention and will lick you all over! He gets along well with all cats and some dogs. He is current on all of his vaccinations, and has been neutered and tested negative for feline leukemia and AIDS. Manning High Golf Team

This is a fundraiser for the Manning High School Golf Team, so we’d love to invite anyone in the area who would like to play. It will be on Saturday, January 27th at Wyboo Golf Club. It will be a shotgun start at 10:30am, with registration starting at 9:30am. It will be a scramble format made up of 4 Person Teams. There are no stipulations for male, female, or mixed teams. Everyone is welcome. We will have lunch provided by Kenny Dykes and his food business Kanuto’s. Prizes will be awarded for finishing order based on number of teams entered… Read the rest

Manning Monarchs

The Manning Monarch Junior High Academic Team defeated BP Cooper 30-10 and  Kingstree 24-11. Mr Wilcox is a great coach and the parents spend a lot of time traveling to meets all while helping prepare the students. These students have achieved many great accomplishments. The Monarchs are currently 2-0 and showing that academic achievements are just as promising as a nice jump shot. Way to go Monarchs.

SUMMERTON – Wendell Sidney “Sid” Dunning, Jr., 62, died Saturday, January 20, 2018, at McLeod Regional Medical Center. Born August 4, 1955, in Richmond, Virginia, he was a son of the late Wendell Sidney Dunning, Sr. and the late Ruth Verline Legg Dunning. He was a US Air Force veteran and was retired from Caterpillar Hydraulic Plant of Sumter. On tuesday in Summerton, Clarendon Hall varsity boys picked up a region win over Dorchester Academy by a score of 65-60 to run their region record to 6-1 on the season and regular season record to 9-3. The Saints were led by Zyan Gilmore with 23 points. Tyrese Mitchum added 15 points,  Kade Eliott had 11 points, Kylic Horton had 10 points and Dylan Way had 6 points along with 6 rebounds. Housey named Clarendon 1 Employee of the Month

Clarendon School District 1 art teacher Tiffany Housey was named the Employee of the Month for the district during the Board of Trustees’ regular monthly meeting held Jan. 8. She was presented with the honor by District 1 Superintendent Barbara Ragin-Champagne.
