Retaining South Carolina Teachers Through National Board Certification

  ROCK HILL, SC – The Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention, and Advancement (CERRA) recently released its South Carolina Annual Educator Supply and Demand Report for the 2017-18 school year. The report concluded that more public school teachers are leaving their classrooms, resulting in more vacancies and a need for more teachers to fill those vacancies. South Carolina’s colleges and universities also are producing fewer teachers. Williamsburg Academy takes First Place in annual Math Contest

KINGSTREE, S.C. – Williamsburg Academy finished in first place at the 20th Annual Williamsburg Technical College Math Contest Friday. This is the first time Williamsburg Academy has won the contest in nearly 10 years, according to a news release from Williamsburg Technical College. The winning team consisted of Lane Brown, Adam Moore, Jacob Mouzon, Lauren Williamson and Trevor Moore. Chuck Montgomery is the team’s instructor. Columbia, SC, January 29, 2018 – Dominion Energy has partnered with The Salvation Army of the Midlands to support the Meals Service to the Homeless and Hungry program through a Critical Community Needs Grant of $15,000. The grant comes from the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation, the non-profit arm of Dominion Energy.   The homeless face extraordinary barriers in meeting basic human needs. Clarendon Hall varsity boys picked up another region win over Andrew Jackson Academy in Ehrhart tuesday by a score of  82-63. Zyan Gilmore paced four Saints in double figures with 30 points and 7 rebounds. Kylic Horton added 15 points. Dylan Way totaled 14 points and 5 rebounds and Tyrese Mitchum had 14 points and 7 rebounds. SCDPS Reports Three Killed on SC Roads

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of three persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, January 26, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, January 28, at midnight. As of January 28, 49 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 73 highway deaths during the same time period in 2017. Of the 38 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2018, 22 were not wearing seat belts. Through midnight January 28, six pedestrians have died compared to nine in 2017; one motorcyclist has died compared to three in 2017; and two bicyclists

Scott’s Branch Middle Boys Defeat Spaulding

The Scott’s Branch Middle School Boys visited Salters, SC, on January 25th earning the victory over Spaulding 36 – 32. Tyler Kind led the team in scoring with 8 points. Tariq Coard and Tadarian Chandler scored 6 points each.
