Mildred Lucille Bowen “Millie” Connelly, 91, widow of John Ralph Connelly, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at Palmetto Health Tuomey in Sumter.
Born Dec. 3, 1926, in Evergreen, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Dewey Havana Bowen and the late Anna Estelle Johnson Bowen. Millie was an avid golfer. She had a zest for life and a sense of humor to match. The highlight of her day was sitting on the front porch and socializing. No one was a stranger and always welcome to visit.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan N. Staszak of Fairfax, Virginia, and Jan M. Collinson of Austin, Texas; three grandchildren, Michael Staszak, Cassandra Kreiselmeier and Cory Collinson; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Beverly Paoloni, Sue Ackerman, Irma Naples and Brenda Masouras; and her special nephew, Dewey Griggs.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Gary N. Rosner.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Phelps officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday at Stephens Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
