JV Saints defeat Andrew Jackson Academy

The Clarendon Hall junior varsity boys’ basketball team picked up a region win on a last-second shot from Josh Black against Andrew Jackson Academy on Friday night. The final score was 33-30. Black ed the team with 23 points. Jonathan McIntosh added five points.

JV Lady Saints fall to Andrew Jackson Academy

The Clarendon Hall junior varsity girls’ basketball team fell Friday night to Andrew Jackson by a score of 31-16. McKenley Wells led the JV Lady Saints with five points. Amberly Way and Bailey Corbett had four points each.

Bryce is a 2-year-old, white-and-tan, mixed-breed male. He is very shy and will need some one-on-one attention. He is a sweet boy that has lived a rough life, and he needs someone to give him a good home with no children. Clarendon Hall K4 students work with computers, nature

Clarendon Hall K4 students attend a computer class weekly to learn the Code.org Pre-Reader Coding Curriculum taught by Amy Magaw. The main lesson involves algorithms, a process or set of rules to be followed in calculations or other problem-solving operations, especially by a computer. These algorithms – or steps in a process – are taught through an “Unplugged,” or “hands-on” format. Manning Primary students pack bags of rice for food banks

Second- and third-grade students at Manning Primary School spent some time Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, on a service learning project that taught them about helping others.
School volunteer Pat Terry joined faculty, staff and other volunteers in leading the children in packing bags of rice to provide to local food banks.
“We are repackaging bulk rice, with 200 bags to go to Summerton to St. Mary’s Food Bank, and the rest to go to United Ministries of Clarendon County,” said Terry.

Baylor Rhodus gets first buck

Baylor Rhodus harvested his very first buck, an 8-point with a 15.625-inch inside spread and 8-inch brow tines on Nov. 11 in Alcolu. Baylor is the son of Whitney Webster and Johnnie Rhodus.

SUMTER – Margaree Wilson Whack, widow of Myer Whack Jr., died Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at Sumter Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born March 22, 1952, in Manning, she was a daughter of the late Pinkney “P.J.” and Ellen White Wilson Sr.

Lexington County man arrested on child pornography charges

South Carolina Attorney Gen. Alan Wilson announced the arrest of Charles Carlton Francis, 28, of Columbia, on 15 charges connected to the exploitation of a minor.
Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators with the Attorney General’s Office made the arrest. Investigators with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), both also members of the state’s ICAC Task Force, assisted with the arrest.
Investigators state Francis distributed child pornography.
Francis was arrested on Dec. 14. He is charged 15 counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years’ … Read the rest
