Letter: LMA 4-H Angel Tree project a success

Posted
I wanted to update everyone on the success of the Angel Tree project undertaken by students in the 4-H Club at Laurence Manning Academy. The outpouring of support from the community was overwhelmimg. We truly made a difference for these kids! (EDITOR'S NOTE: Students with the club joined advisor Crystal Bell in placing a Christmas tree at the Harvin Clarendon County Library; the tree had tickets that listed a child's age and gift items one might get for each child. Donors were encouraged to take a ticket, purchase the items and return them to Clarendon County Clemson Extension from Nov. 15 to Dec. 15). Every child's gift was returned, wrapped and ready to go. Some got more than others, but I hope and pray that each received what they asked for! It was a lot of stuff. We took 5five cars - I know a couple were packed to the top. Some of the resident children came out and talked to our members as we unloaded cars. Their smiles warmed our hearts! The picture features serve of our members and the Turbeville Children's Home director. The picture shows some of the gifts, but only includes about a third of what we dropped off. I couldn't be more proud to be a part of this group. I was overcome with emotion talking to the director just before we left; the staff was floored by the donations and expressed sincere gratitude to the LMA 4H cub! So, Thank you to every community resident that helped make this such a success. CRYSTAL BELL Manning
