Hospice Care of South Carolina (HCSC) was recently ranked No. 29 among healthcare providers and insurers by Modern Healthcare’s 2017 Best Places to Work in Healthcare. "This distinguished honor identifies and recognizes outstanding employers in the healthcare industry nationwide," said Modern Healthcare Publisher Fawn Lopez. "Modern Healthcare partners with the Best Companies Group on the assessment process, which includes an extensive employee survey gathering about the company's policies, practices, demographics, and benefits." In addition, the magazine surveys the organization's staff on eight core areas, including leadership and planning; culture and communications; role satisfaction; working environment; relationship with supervisor; pay and benefits; overall engagement; and training, development and resources. “A decade ago, Modern Healthcare set out to recognize outstanding employers across the industry," Lopez said. "Now in its 10th year, Modern Healthcare’s Best Places to Work in Healthcare has become the hallmark for organizations striving to be just that. It’s gratifying to see how the program has grown." Lopez added that "award winners can be proud of the role they play in elevating the standard for workplace excellence." "These five-star organizations not only see higher employee retention, but also increased patient engagement and satisfaction and healthier bottom lines," she said. Hospice Care of South Carolina Chief Executive Officer David Powell credited each employee for their daily commitment to excellence and serving their communities with compassionate care. The company has one office in Manning. “More than the award, I am proud today of our people," said Powell. "Engaged employees equates to excellent patient care, our number one priority. Thanks to each of you for your daily commitment to excellence and serving our communities with compassionate care. You are making a difference and we are being recognized for it.” Hospice Care of South Carolina was founded in 1997. "We are licensed to serve every county statewide, allowing us to admit seven days a week with local staff available 24 hours a day," Powell said. The company has 34 physical addresses, including an office in Georgia and a corporate office located in Spartanburg. "Our pediatric program, Hands of Hope Comprehensive Pediatric Care, was founded in 2011 and is the only nationally board-certified interdisciplinary team available to serve children living in or visiting South Carolina," Powell added.
