The director for Financial Aid and Veterans' Services at Central Carolina Technical College was recently awarded the college's foundation's Outstanding Service Award. Dr. Michael Mikota announced Thursday that Tiffany Wilson was selected as the award's 2017-18 recipient. The Outstanding Service Award was initiated in the early 1980s as a college-wide recognition of outstanding performance as determined by peers and supervisors. The award is intended to acknowledge the performance of an employee in the support staff area and to place the name of the recipient on a plaque displayed at the college. Wilson has more than 11 years of leadership experience in higher education and student affairs. She is also an adjunct faculty member of Central Carolina and has taught college skills and freshman seminar courses for more than four years. Wilson is a native of South Carolina and holds a bachelor’s degree and a master of business administration from Francis Marion University. During her time at FMU, she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority and worked as both a resident assistant and orientation leader. She is a lifetime member of the Francis Marion University Alumni Association, an active member of the Sumter Junior Welfare League and is also involved with the Sumter Chamber of Commerce. After completing her undergraduate degree, she worked for her alma mater in the Office of Financial Assistance until 2012, when she was offered a position with Central Carolina Technical College. She is currently pursuing her doctorate of education from the University of the Cumberlands in educational leadership with a specialty in student personnel services.
