Shelter gathering doesn't want visitors, only donations

A Second Chance Animal Shelter of Clarendon County is inviting residents to its 6th annual Boo-Riffic Gala Event. But the organization really doesn’t want anyone to come. Yes, you read that right. The shelter is asking for donations on Halloween, which is Tuesday. A flyer for the event tells the public that the time is “whenever” and the location is “wherever you’re most comfortable.” The non-event event is a creative way, shelter employees and volunteers believe, to both raise funds and awareness for the animals of the shelter. All donations are tax deductible, with the Federal ID number being 57-107506. The shelter will use donations to provide food, shelter, vaccinations and a second chance at life for many stray dogs and cats in Clarendon County. The shelter also offers low-cost spaying and neutering for dogs and cats once a month by appointment only. All of the shelter’s revenue comes from donations and fundraising events, along with private bequests. Send all contribution to P.O. Box 607, Manning, SC 29102. Call (803) 473-7075 for more information.
