Storm causes damage throughout Manning

Officials with the National Weather Service say it's too soon to tell whether tornadoes swept through Manning late Monday night.

But residents in Pine Knoll and employees at CVS believed they experienced them.

"It was so loud, we got in the hallway," said Pine Knoll resident Tracy Byrd on Tuesday morning. Halloween decorations were strewn about her yard, and Byrd said that shingles from the back of her home's roof had come off.

Over at CVS, three employees stood outside the store's drive-through about 9 p.m. Monday surveying the damage. On Tuesday, the drive-through was closed off with caution tape.

Clarendon County Emergency Services Director Anthony Mack said he had no confirmation on tornadic activity in the area. The National Weather Service typically sends survey teams to areas after severe storms to assess damage and possible tornadoes.
