A 20-year-old Wedgefield man charged in August with various crimes related to vehicle break-ins of more than 20 vehicles in the Clarendon County area. Matthew Ryan Proctor of 6630 Gulledge Road in Wedgefield pleaded guilty to last week before 3rd Circuit Court Judge George M. McFadden to non-violent, second-degree burglary; two counts of grand larceny of a value more than $2,000, but less than $10,000; and eight counts of breaking into motor vehicles or tanks or pumps where fuel and lubricants are stored. He received concurrent sentences under the Youthful Offender Act not to exceed three years in prison. The Clarendon County Public Court Index indicates that five counts of breaking into motor vehicles or tanks or pumps where fuel and lubricants are stored were dropped by the 3rd Circuit Solicitor's Office. Sheriff Tim Baxley said Proctor and Eric Hunter Tingle were arrested in mid-August after the Sheriff's Office followed various leads for more than two weeks to track the suspects. When announcing the manhunt, Baxley considered the pair armed and dangerous. Charges against Tingle that include 20 counts of breaking into a motor vehicle or tanks where fuel or lubricants are stored and one count each of first-degree burglary and grand larceny remain pending. Both were denied bond at the time of their arrest.
