An 18-year-old Alcolu man has been charged by the Sumter County Sheriff's Office with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and possession of a stolen weapon. Spokesman Ken Bell said that Norris Ja'Vonta Wilson III, 18, of 1824 Grasshopper Lane in Alcolu, was arrested Wednesday on warrants issued Tuesday. Deputies allege that Wilson intentionally shot a victim a number of times in the roadway along Commander Lane in Sumter County and then fled the scene. The victim, who was unidentified by the Sumter County Sheriff's Office, reportedly told deputies the identity of the man who shot him. Bell said the unidentified victim underwent surgery and is currently hospitalized at an undisclosed location. Wilson allegedly told deputies after his arrest that he possessed a stolen weapon and showed officers where he hid it. A Sumter County magistrate judge denied bond for Wilson. He will have to wait 45 days before he can petition for bond again from a Circuit Court judge.
