Adult Ed resumes free WorkKeys tests

Clarendon County Adult Education will continue to offer free WorkKeys testing for South Carolina residents through June 2018, according to Executive Director Lisa Justice. Justice announced Monday that the organization reached an agreement with the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce and ACT WorkKeys to continue providing the testing. The free tests had expired as of Sept. 30, Justice said. "On Oct. 1, ACT launched a new battery of WorkKeys assessments that lead to the National Career Readiness Certificate, the credential most requested by employers in the area," Justice said. "Workplace documents, graphic literacy and applied math replace previous tests in reading for information, locating information and applied mathematics." Justice noted that prior credentials earned on the old tests will not need to be taken again unless they are more than five years old. "After a brief transition to the new platform, Adult Ed is ready to offer the new tests, once again for free," said Justice. Testing will be offered at 8:30 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the F.E. DuBose Career Center in Manning. All three tests, when taken together, last about three hours. Participants may take one test at a time, if needed.
