Saints defeat Coastal Christian Prep

The Clarendon Hall varsity football team defeated Coastal Christian Prep on Friday night by a final score of 53-26. The Saints got a turnover on a pass interception from Michael Bolyston on the Cougars' third play of the game. After four plays the Saints got a touchdown from a 30-yard run from Tyrese Mitchum. The two-point conversion was good on a run from Mitchum to go ahead 8-0. After a punt by the Cougars, the Saints wasted no time getting back to the end zone. Quarterback Dylan Way ran for a 50-yard touchdown on its first play to take the lead 14-0. With a minute remaining in the first quarter, Coastal Christian got on the scoreboard on a 35-yard pass completion. The Saints quickly struck again on a 75-yard kickoff return by Stephen Henning and a two-point conversion pass from Way to Brandon Davis to make the score 22-6. The Cougars scored next on a pass completion to make the score 22-14. The Saints got on the scoreboard again with four minutes remaining in the first half with a 25-yard field goal by Jeffrey Warren to make the score 25-14 at halftime. With the Saints recieving the kickoff in the start of third quarter, they wasted no time as Mitchum raced 59 yards on their first play for a touchdown. With the Saints up 31-14, the Cougars were forced to punt on their possession, but Robbie James blocked their punt and ran it down to the 11 yard line. The Saints scored on the next play on a 11-yard run by Mitchum. The Cougars scored the next two touchdowns to make the score 37-26. The Saints got the ball back on a fumble recovery by Bolyston, and Robbie James scored from four yards out to make the score 43-26. The Cougars turned the ball over on downs and Mitchum scored from 31 yards out and Warren kicked the extra point to make the score 50-26. With two minutes remaining, the Saints tacked on three points from a 35-yard field goal by Warren to make the final score 53-26. On the night Mitchum rushed 14 times for 183 yards and Way rushed six times for 86 yards. On defense, Ben Corbett led the Saints with 24 tackles and Zyan Gilmore with 11. Bolyston had two fumble recoveries and a pass interception to go along with nine tackles, and Josh Black had a pass interception.
