Monarchs face Swampcats in cross-country meet

The Manning High School Monarchs cross-country team recently faced the same from Laurence Manning Academy. Manning High Coach Tom Honea said that the Monarch boys came out on top in their matchup against the Swampcats, with a low score of 15 to LMA’s 48. On the girls’ side, the Lady Swampcats were victorious with a low score of 25 to Manning’s 30. In the 5K, Manning’s Sebastian Dozier had the best time, 18:32; likewise, Manning’s Karla Vasquez had the best time in that same race, 25:32. Led by Dozier, Treavion York and Price Bailey, the Manning boys scored a clean sweep, taking first through fifth places. Honea said with Dozier and Bailey being in the ninth and eighth grades, respectively, “this signals great things for the Monarchs’ future.” E. Danback led the Lady Swampcats in their victory over the Lady Monarchs. While Vasquez and Breanna Bell, both of Manning, were first and second, the visiting team took the next five places, giving LMA the win.
