State Department of Transportation Secretary Christy Hall said Thursday during a news conference with Gov. Henry McMaster that state highways and interstates are already seeing heavily congested traffic from those evacuating Florida and Georgia in preparation of Hurricane Irma's landfall. She said that vehicles are moving roughly 15 to 20 mph on Interstate 95 northbound near the Georgia-South Carolina border, and the department is seeing similar times on other interstate corridors throughout the state.
